Stuck, Not Broken
My approach is deeply rooted in the belief that all of us, at some point in our lives, will find ourselves stuck in challenging circumstances and contexts, struggling to cope with difficult feelings, thoughts or limiting beliefs and acting in ways that are not in line with our deepest values. However stuck a person may feel themselves to be, I don’t see people as broken.
I see and look for the resilience and strengths inherent in every person, and see my role as being a fellow traveler and guide. I will help to clarify what is most important to you, any goals you may have, bring to awareness what could be getting in your way, action steps and resources that may help take you towards this life and help you learn and practice new ways of coping or problem solving.
The counselling theories that shape my approach include an integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, positive psychology, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and strengths-based, attachment frameworks.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to learn more about how these approaches could be helpful in working together.
